Holiday Snap (Pintello Comedy Theater)

To celebrate their 20th anniversary, Pintello Comedy Theater in Gilroy will be reprising shows from previous seasons, starting with Holiday Snap. The program explains that, “Holiday Snap was our very first show 20 years ago and we are delighted to kick off our 20th anniversary season of encore shows with this fabulous farce!” The remaining shows of this 21st season will be Office Hours (May), Pump Boys and Dinettes (August), Here on the Flight Path (November), and Pageant: A Beauty Pageant Musical (January 2024).
I attended the 3/31/23 Holiday Snap performance (thank you Marianne, Liana, and Robin for the wonderful company) and could not stop laughing. The cast did a great job with this very funny holiday farce.
In January-February of 2003, the Pintello cast featured Rosalind Farotte (provider of SVCT’s amazing Rocky Road treats and Abby in last season’s Ripcord at Limelight by SVCT), Tom Hepner, Rod Pintello, Kevin Heath, Whitney Pintello McClelland, Maureen Imagawa, Bill Corneth, and Christine McElroy. Christine (who recently did the great black and white costumes at Limelight by SVCT’s Later Life) was there in the audience when I saw the show and was acknowledged by producers Rod and Marion Pintello in their opening remarks.
This year’s production, directed by Marion Pintello, features Jason Harris, Rob Langford, Jen Langford, Doug Doughty, Adrianne Wilkinson, Joyce Bedard, and Mike Richter. We know Jason (most recently from Limelight by SVCT’s The Outsider where he played hot shot political consultant Arthur Vance), Adrienne (who had directed SVCT’s Gypsy in 2019, Miriam’s first SVCT show), and Joyce (who shared the honor of getting the Legacy Robe award with Miriam for SVCT’s Beauty and the Beast last summer) — and who of course have been in countless other local productions!
This is only my fourth time at Pintello — we previously have seen Little Shop of Horrors, Birthday Club, and Spamalot) and look forward to seeing more shows there!
